Our Topic: Big Greek Life

Our topic this term is 'Ancient Greece. This is a history based topic where we will be exploring Ancient Greece and the influence that this time period has had on the western world. In English, we will be reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and basing our writing around this text.

Reading

In Year 5, the children choose their own books to read at home. Not only does this promote independence but the children pick books that interest them and therefore get more enjoyment from their reading. The children should be reading 5 times a week and this should also include reading with an adult, where an adult can extend their understanding by asking questions about the text.

 Homework

The children will be set weekly homework on a Friday. This will include reading, maths and spellings on EdShed.
